About the sighting which you posted in the Gallery here - it certainly looks like an osprey. 

This is most likely a youngish adult which has not yet established a nest; they tend to arrive in the country a bit later then nesting birds. It could be on its way to Scotland, or maybe the relatively recent colony at Kielder Water.
