I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......

No idea Tiger but it is the usual bland comments when you ask a question and everyone busily gets on to chatting about what the mods are having for tea!!!!
No feedings today and mods no idea whether there was a drop this morning or not. Little Tag is going to get further and further behind.
My thought is that chick 2 perished and this is 1 and 3 but my comment started a riot on chat with that. I cant believe there is only a day between these two
Lmac, I also think the second chick died hence the size difference. I see a few names I recognise on the chat but haven't joined for the reasons you mention.
GS they are now threatening to shut down the cam and chat due to people stating the obvious but they see it is as negative - I see it as saying what is happening. Tiger seems to be persevering although after a day at work playground behaviour by mods threatening and others now chatting about key lime pie is more than I can stand.
Lmac, I gave up on that chat ages ago, it's really not worth the bother, they are only interested in happy clappy talk.
The time I was on a few of us were called trolls.

LMAC & STARLING The majority of people who chat here (RSPB) have been watching ospreys for many years and have considerable knowledge relating to ospreys. Being realistic on the Nelson chat is deemed negative whereas I see it as sensible, helpful and educational. We know and accept that it is nature and we have all witnessed nests which have been less successful (and shed a few tears). I noticed that Tiger is hanging in there so far. It's difficult to watch the nest at present though.
What is the problem? It seems pretty ok to me.

Starling & Lmac, I totally agree with you with the happy clappy talk on the chat! Its all about the Key lime pie :/
I could not believe what I was reading, you daren't question anything without someone saying its all doom and gloom! I'm a softy, but this is reality and they seem to think the chicks can go without food for a few days and they will continue to bounce back, you daren't tell them otherwise. I tell myself if I can't deal with the viewing, I should not be watching.
Tiger you have the patience of a saint, I gave up. Good on you, I appreciate your examples that you give and reasonings behind why intervention or not as the case may be.

Yes, CWT confirmed that the male is White YW (from Bassenthwaite, 2008) in this blog and Kielder also shared the news on 2 May here
