I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
Brilliant!!! Thank you, SHEILA :-)
IMAGICAT
Good to see her taking advantage of the new enclosure so quickly :-)
Thank you Sheila, that is a wonderful to see.

Rachel - I was at Dyfi on the weekend of August 2/3.
It was a member of staff (Not a volunteer) that told me that Blue 24 had been hanging around with an unknown male but not Dai Dot who had gone. They just said she had been hanging around the estuary and never referred to any nest.
Then Friends of the Osprey recently posted similar on their web page but referred to a nest and assumed it may have been one they put up and not the tray near the main nest at Dyfi.
That same weekend a photographer came into the observatory and he had just come from the nest of the fourth breeding pair in Wales and told me how to get there. I went up on Sunday afternoon and there was a group with scopes but they knew nothing of the identity of the birds apart from there were two juveniles flying about. News of the fourth breeding pair has been posted officially on Friends of the Ospreys site.

Really? Sure, there was an unringed male hanging around for a while, but from what I've heard, Blue 24 didn't show any evidence of being particularly impressed. In any case, she needs a nest as well as a male. I would also point out that Emyr is openly sceptical of the report. I'll be delighted if she does pair up and breed next year - whether around the Dyfi or elsewhere - but I think it is pushing it, to put it mildly, to claim that she has already found a mate.
For the record - I know the location of the new nest is becoming known, but it is still supposed to be kept quiet. This forum is wide open for anyone to read - and is indexed by the standard search engines - so is a most inappropriate place to be so indiscreet about it.
Thank you jaydee, a great blog, I had a little chuckle at their antics!
I have just seen a short video on FB showing that Nel has fledged!! WOW, what fabulous news!!

How amazing! Thanks for the news WENDY
RACHEL - "Really" - You sound rather surprised a bit like the story of Green Js tracking.
"but I think it is pushing it, to put it mildly, to claim that she has already found a mate" - This comment of "mate" was made by Darren Moore not by myself and quote him below verbatum so you can show the sceptical Emyr - I am sure he knows of Darren a very respected member of the conservation group.
Blue 24 was chased off the nest, and settled in a nest near by.
Blue 24,did find herself a mate, but by this time, it was to late in the season for them to breed, they've been together for a few weeks now, so let's hope that next year, she can settle down, and have her own family.
