I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
I was at the Loch Insh nest this afternoon, both male and female there, the male seen off an intruder. Nest has a nice wall of green camouflage leaves (could be dokens) so nest is a bit obscured.
There was some talk at the end of last season that they were showing live footage of the nest in the Loch Insh watersports centre, so when I was up here in May I went in, and asked about this, as believed there to be no camera at this nest, and he explained that one of the guys had rigged up a telescope on the nest and linked it to some software on his laptop and then transmitted it to the TV screen in the centre. He was away in Switzerland in May and said he would be back in the summer and to come back in to see if he manages to do it again, seemingly he is the only one who can set it all up.
So today I went in and it was set up, although a bit shaky and not great resolution but it is live so to speak. They are not sure how many chicks they have, we could only see two, but I guess time will tell. Thought I would mention it to clear up the point about if there was a camera or not. Quite ingenious though to set it all up via a telescope.

Hi Mary thanks for the LI info. There are 3 chicks there this year I have been told. I think they are a little behind the LG trio.
Lmac - there wasn't much wing flapping going on yesterday when we were there, that is great that they have 3 chicks then.
Thaks TIGER I am relieved and disappointed at the same time

First Chick at Threave fledged Friday (11 July).
I wont say where incase its a secret but Sat 12th we saw a pair with at least 2 chicks, the male and female brought fish to the nest within 2 mins of each other and the chicks were feeding themselves, i cant find a mention of the nest anywhere on google so i wont disclose the location, the views are brilliant tho.
Good to hear of any successful nest
Friend went back yesterday for another look, possible 3 chicks!,good news
