I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
Tiger, 800 Ospreys nesting together? Where was that? Wouldn't that be a fantastic sight?!
Kind regards, Ann

I think it was pre DDT days. I will try to find a reference but it might take some time.
I think it was in New England.

Osprey nesting close to house in America. See here
Thanks, Tiger, that is fascinating!
This is a nest just off Pine Island a few miles off Sanibel. As I discussed earlier I go there to see Manatees.
Because the manatees are so slow and often on the surface you have to take the boat down to a very slow speed with no wake.
Appropiate signage for mother osprey - MINIMUM WAKE for her babies.
Yes the birds in US are very human tolerant - I find I can go right up to them before they spook me not the other way round as in UK.
