I have just had a look at Sanibel cam and I see an Osprey has arrived. No idea who it is - is it Ripply from last year or a new bird. I remember last year finding a facebook/blog page about this nest but for the life of me can't remember what it was so can't compare images from last season, so if anyone else can remember......
Glaslyn update:
"Conrad Smith (RSPB) and Darren Moore ( Friends of the Ospreys), the two tree climbers were keen to get started. Conrad's main priority was to climb the tree and check and clear out the nest. He made a start while Darren made his ascent. On checking the nest as he has done each year Conrad confirmed that the nest was further over from the tree trunk and an outer part hadn't any support underneath. Then while clearing out the cup it became obvious that the bottom of the nest was crumbling with age. Both Conrad and Darren agreed that major refurbishment was required. Darren has offered to dismantle as necessary and rebuild a more secure nest. For those who may not be aware he has built many Osprey nest platforms and a pair of Ospreys has successfully nested on such.
This morning weather permitting the work will begin. Please be assured that the Glaslyn Osprey nest will be in place well before the birds return.
In the photos Conrad is removing the old dome camera. Fingers crossed weather wise, Darren will fix the new cameras in place this morning."
The photos are on this link and will enlarge if you click on them.
Birdies LG DU update.
If anyone is interested in seeing a pair of ospreys incubating 3 eggs, have a look at pinkshell ospreycam in Fort myers Florida. Sometimes you can see pelicans and egrets along the water edge, no discussion with this cam but nice to watch on full screen.
Thanks karen m. That's anew one for me. Link is here
Bea and Jasper have returned at Hilton Head:
