What a shame I found this thread languishing down on page 8. Even more of a shame if Green J has decided to start her migration. I hope that she is just visiting Dalwhinnie and is back at the nest site soon, otherwise it looks to be the end of another great female osprey era on our shores as I can't see her returning next year.

No she will not have started her migration. If a nest fails the female sometimes goes on holiday. We have known this for a long time.
Thanks Tiger, reading Roys update and given that she has been away now for 10-11 days.

She did similar last year. See Summer Journeys
What a girl. Thanks Tiger.
We learned about females taking a holiday back in 2000. See HW
Thanks TIGER Interesting EJ seems not to have this inclination

Well that is the point. She did go on holiday last year.

One advantage of the Osprey News Bulletin it allows you to find URLS that are no longer available like the page for Green J
Thank you TIGER. I've enjoyed re reading the entire thread. It's good that XD has a new mate - reminds me a little of Pale Male. Green J probably won't bother coming north next year - happy retirement girl. Maybe you and Lady will have a few 'girls day outs'
