Green J is the long suffering wife of Blue XD. Today we learn that she is being satellite tracked and that she has been sighted at Belvide
Although not officially announced yet it seems this will attract a lot of interest.
I will wait and open minded but there must be a good reason to track and not sure but a 22 yr Old Osprey that I think has been tracked twice before and done so much for translocation. Also remember she had no nest last yr if Blue XD had not come to LG. This year a chick has been removed for translocation and Green J and Blue XD tagged. Blue XD tagged before. Quite a lot for this nest.
She seems to be following exactly the same route as she took 13 years ago

Interesting Tiger so what have we learnt?
These tags were supposed to last 3 yrs and then Roy Dennis changed the goal post on Springwatch to 5 yrs. That would make Green J 27 when they fall off, if they do?. In finland they removed the none working tracker but not here? Too busy catching an easy target and no after welfare for the Ospreys with tags that do not work.
I hope that tagging this 'old' pair has a good outcome, also for their chick too. Though I must say as B&B has, if they are showing the same route as before in previous years, why do it? I can only think that as they are old they will at least know if they die between now and next season and where.

I just hope another 'old LADY' is not made a target for the same if she is fortunate enough to return.
Niteowl I have to remain open minded but also thought how would people feel if a tag put on lady. These Ospreys are old and have given so much. I just wish they would be left to enjoy their older years. Too much on their nest this year and sorry all my opinion and shocked. Why not younger Ospreys. There must be a reason and looking forward to it, if we ever get told.
I can think of several (related) good reasons to track this particular pair, B&B. I just don't think it is appropriate to air those possibilities in public before Roy has a chance to update his website. If we are right, the reasons will become obvious.
Thank you Rachel and look forward and as I said open minded and hope to be on board. Roy has still not updated on Fearna and wish he had. You all have to remember this pair had no nest last year and disgusted and now look at what is happening. I always thank you Rachel and appreciate and of course interested as to why and there must be a very good reason.
