Morning all!

  • Morning all

Good luck with the food shopping Lindy!

I'm waiting for the little ones to wake up, maybe I can take them down stairs without waking Mum and Dad.

  • Morning everybody. Just a couple of pictures of the Falkirk Wheel.

The Forth and Clyde Canal was opened in 1790, and allowed small sea vessels to "cut-across" Scotland from the Firth of Forth to the Firth of Clyde. A second canal was then opened in 1842 to connect the Forth and Clyde canal to Edinburgh. This was called the Union Canal. These two canals were originally connected at the Falkirk Basin via a "staircase" of eleven locks. A vital transport link in their day, the canals were overtaken in importance by the railways in the late 19th Century, and by 1930 both canals had become disused. It was during the 1930's that the original Falkirk Staircase Locks were removed, and the land rebuilt upon.

The Falkirk Wheel was built as a Millennium Project to restore the connection between the two canals, and to once again link Glasgow and Edinburgh by waterway. It was opened by the Queen in 2002.

The aqueduct at the top of the wheel carrys the Union Canal, with boats arriving from Edinburgh. The water as the base of the wheel is the Falkirk Basin, part of the Forth and Clyde Canal.

The picture below shows the lift mid-operation.

  • Good Morning ALL. Plenty of heavy rain overnight and this morning. Having seen today's forecast, I washed all the pups bedding and toys yesterday, before she returns home tomorrow.

For the first time in ages, I also had to sign in this morning.

Heather, Thank you for the brilliant news from Margo. After all the suffering she has endured and still has to continue, it is great to hear that the chemo is working.

    Very Best Wishes Margo.

I have to go back now and look at all your latest photographs.

  • Good Morning, had lots of heavy rain through the night, and storms, I nearly jumped out of my skin at 2am when the loudest crack/bang occurred, Jess wasn't too keen either. Woke up around 6am still heavy rain and fog, now the sun is breaking through and burning some of it off.

Taken last month when at their peek. Click on pic's to enlarge.

  • NITEOWL - great photos - a lovely garden after all your hard work planting those containers - well done!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

    GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Aberdeenshire Police are trying to stop the Simple Minds concert in Stonehaven Town Square on Hogmanay. Booo!!!! Hiss!!!

You'd have thought the police in Scotland would be used to big crowds in town centres at Hogmanay.

  • Thanks OG, though I am planning to do less next year, I got carried away when buying plants this year, it is the first proper summer since 2009 and I had just as many then, but it is always the watering which is needed when we're away that is a problem. I was thinking of getting some fake bright flowers to get the look, but then felt sorry for the bumble bees, we've had loads this year, though they were dying/or drunk on the ground. We've had bumper numbers of Butterflies also, mainly large white ones, but have had lots of brown colourful ones too. :-)

  • AQ   Really enjoyed your willife pics. Wonder what LM thought of "Banjo" instead of "Twinkle"?

MULBERRY Good photos of "The Falkirik Wheel", my Mum lives not too far away from there and we took a trip a couple of years ago.

We were thinking about our favourite walk at Loch an Eilein today then realised that "Thunder in the Glen" was this weekend and so went to the canal instead.

What a dreadful accident off "Sumburgh Head" very sad indeed.

BRENDA   Have I missed the puppy pics???? When I hang Dillons toys on the line, I always think anyone would believe we had half a dozen Grandchildren!!!!

Another pic of the pup my cousin is getting next month.
