This is a new thread to follow the travels of these three young ospreys from the Loch Garten nest.
Oighrig
This male juvenile is the elder of the 2013 brood, hatched on 25th May and fledged on 16th July.
Oighrig’s ring is Blue/white CF5
Breagha
Also male, the younger of the 2013 brood, hatched 28th May and fledged on 19th July.
Breagha’s ring is Blue/white CF4.

Caledonia
Hatched on 16th May 2012, fledged on 14th July and left Loch Garten on 19th August.
The travels of Caledonia and her sister Alba were first followed in this thread, now closed. Caledonia is the first juvenile osprey tracked from Loch Garten to settle in Europe; she has been living on the northern outskirts of Seville for nearly a year now.
Caledonia’s ring is Blue/White AA1, reading downwards. LG blog on the ringing and tagging of Caledonia & Alba.

How did your friend come to be there, Tiger?
I think it was after he spent a year teaching out in Ghana. Then he chose to take the low road home through the Sahara. I will promise to ask him about it when I next see him but that is about six weeks from now.
He came through the Hoggar.
Tiger Signature
He sounds most interesting! His sense of adventure must be considerable.
The Hoggar range looks very picturesque - I can understand his deciding to drive that way.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
Yes beautiful when seen at a distance but the terrain must be terrible to drive through.
ChloeB & Tiger's Osprey Data
The lure of driving through such terrain must be powerful if you've never done it before.

Thanks Sue. Hopefully by the next download Breagha has corrected his satnav system and is again travelling in a westerly direction. South East is not a route we would wish him to continue on for long.
My thoughts Lmac when I saw the map. What is it with them this year heading to the desert. I wonder why they dont hug the west coast down?
I too hope he changes direction but one consolation is that he must be in top form to fly the distances he is each day
Thank you for adding a positive note, PATILY - I could feel myself going down in the dumps and you lifted me up again ;-)
(Ooh, the gremlins just signed me out!)
