Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey) Sunday 11 August 2013

Happy New Week!

Last week's Weekly Chat thread is HERE.

The code for this week's Weekly Chat thread is WC110813 (in case you ever need to find it using the search box).

(WC stands for Weekly Chat. 11 is the day, 08 is the month, and 13 is the year. I will always follow this format.)

Don't forget to watch for the Perseid Meteor Shower tonight and tomorrow night. If you have cloudy skies, you can watch the online webcasts. See my post at the end of last week's chat thread.

Sending good energy to Margo, Patricia, NiteOwl, Buzz, and anyone else who is dealing with adversity.

I haven't seen Lynette posting for a while. Lynette, I hope you have recovered well from your operation!!!

Also, sending a shout out to Auntie in Finland, who's probably working very hard at her career, and to DJoanS -- also to Caerann in Chicago (I thought of her this week).

  • Aftenoon all,

I see the site has been playing up again. I am still not entirely happy with the new format especially when posting pics as they never seem to work without a couple of attempts.

Linda : Sorry Buzz is still sore but it is in a very sensitive area so I expect it will take a week or two to settle down.

Brenda : Sounds like you are having a busy time with the puppy and they are definately hard work. Good luck with the bowls.

I have been to Manton Bay this morning and just cut the front grass. Just having a break before cutting the back lawn. Shallow Water hide was fairly quiet with just John Wright and one other person there whenI arrived. Here are a few pics:

  • Good afternon all just back from a meeting with OG and Eagle Eye

and had a walk around Dysart harbour and along by Pan HA'. We then had a sandwich lunch at the Harbourmasters house before they went on their way to visit some of the villages along the Fife coast. The weather was once again very pleasant sometimes overcast but the sun did shine. It was a pity that the tide was out as the harbour wasn't at is best without the water. Eagle Eye has taken quite a few snaps and I am sure some will be posted at a later date. They were also pleased to see Diesel in the flesh.

I hope that Margo will start to feel better now that she is home and being able to see her beloved Billy who has seemingly been pinning for her and I hope Buzz starts to feel a bit better after his ordeal. I also hope that the rest of the humans keep well.

  • I've not been on for some time but have been watching the nest on and off.   Had trouble with a slow laptop but have now had it seen to and it seems to be working a lot better now.  Will try to get on more often.

    Hope everyone is OK

Glad to see you met up with OG and Eagle Eye George and that they are visiting your neck of the woods.

Hi to Annette, Diane, AQ and anyone else over the water, not forgotten you , just not been posting.

Had a week in Manchester last week with dau. She wanted to get away for a few days so we went up to my brothers and stayed there for the week. Out and about to St. Anns and Manchester on 2 days and for our super homemade icecream at Edgworth nr. Bolton on Friday.   Had a good week but nice to be home.   We have learnt this week that there are enough people now booked in on our choice of coach holiday so it is viable and we will be off to Austria in September -  44 years since I was last there so it will be lovely to see the scenery again.

Been to the dentist today for final appointment re extraction and fitting of part dentures - they look fine but still getting used to them.

Take care all, and will pop in again soon.

  • Good Morning All ... LOL ... look at the time!!

I've just caught up with the last couple of days, and can't remember who said what! Too tired to go back again.

Lindy, I hope Buzz soon heals, can't be much fun for him.

Heather, thanks for updating us about Margo, have a lovely holiday.

So glad you're back home Margo, and hope you soon gets some strength back.

George pleased you had a good time with OG and Eagle eye.

Alan, I saw a preview with Chris Packham on TV yesterday for a programme he's done on Badgers in their setts, looks good, not sure of channel or time/day, sorry.

Annette, I loved watching those old childrens programmes, Bill and Ben with little weed. Watch with Mother, and I loved Spot the dog, I cried when they were all gathered to wave goodbye. I loved them all, Andy Pandy and loobyloo. I'm really showing my age now.. Lol :)

dibnlib, Glad the dentist visit went ok.

May not get back here till late again or next day, Mulberry has an eye appointment this afternoon, and then I'm out till evening.

Sorry if I've forgot to reply to anyone.

  • Really tired tonight, so I'll catch up with everyone tomorrow.

Annette, sorry you didn't see many meteors. I didn't get to see a single one, not outdoors or online, after all my Perseid promotion. :-)

    Lynette: Nice to see you!!!

For Alan: Badger makes historic discovery

  •

................  for Dear Margo, thinking of you.

  • Hi, Lindy.  Have you looked at the LG nest lately?  There's a large, familiar female bird on it!

That's a particularly beautiful card - Margo will love it!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • Hasn't it been quiet here today. Just returned from Pontefract General Hospital for a visual fields test. You know, the one where you put you head into the big white bubble and look for the spots in front of you, pressing a button when you see one. I spend half my time seeing imaginary spots, so I always end up pressing the button when there are not spots, and get told off for cheating by the nurse! Ah well.

I've finally got the annoying tune out of my head, having bought the CD and listened to it over and over again. I can honestly say I haven't had Track 9 running through my head for days now. Mind you, there's a good reason for that.

I now can't get Track 10 out of my head. Sigh...

LINDY - that's a lovely card for Margo.

  • I should say, I first noticed Track 10 when I noticed how similar it was to the Kinks "Waterloo Sunset". See what you think.

  • Diane : Thanks for the link to the badger find.

Linda : Lovely card for Margo. She is always in our thoughts.

NiteOwl : The program about badgers is on friday evening at 9.00 pm on BBC2.
