Weekly Chat (Non-Osprey), Sunday 04 August 2013

HAPPY NEW WEEK!

Last week's Weekly Chat thread is HERE.

The code for this new week's thread is WC040813 (in case you ever need to search for it from the search box).

  • Thanks Diane for starting us off. I do hope the tree comes down the right way. I can see you making log cabins for your critters LOL

Answer depends which day <grin> Thurs was the one sunny day all week, . . of course I was out with camera. Then Fri I treated myself to a new camera after weeks of agonising over weight and speed of picture taking. Yesterday Dau1 had a family gathering, cooking us all a yummy chicken lunch. I was sitting opposite LittleMiss and I just had to practise with yet more pics of LM. Now this coming week, forecast doesn't look hopeful, maybe Thurs again. I have 2 weeks before next bus trip.

Sending Margo lots of {{{hugs}}} and a pic of my cyclamen as a cheer up.

Hello to everyone whether coming or going or staying. Another week has passed with me not keeping up.

  • Hi Folks:  Will catch up tomorrow.

Diane: Thanks a bunch for taking care of us again this week!

  • Good morning, all!  Good idea to post a link to last week's thread.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • A weekend funny/practical advice

  • Brilliant, Dibnlib.

By the way I had a great time seeing Iron Maiden last night!  My ears are still ringing, though.

  • CLARE   so glad you enjoyed it. Was Limpy there too or can't his ears cope. Off out now till late aft.

  • He doesn't do concerts - he hates being in a crowd, he gets quite claustrophobic.  And, yes, his ears definitely wouldn't cope.

  • These wee fellas fledged yesterday - but they are still using the nest as the place to receive food from mum and dad, who are kept very busy!  We think there are only these two.

Looks like they have stripped sealant from a join in the roof trim - will have to inspect when they all leave!

Ospreys Rule OK, but Goldfinches come a close second!

  • Thanks, Diane, for starting us off again. I think the link back to last week could be very useful – not sure I understand about the code though! Only one more sleep before tree day!

AQ – pleased you had good camera weather for Thursday – and now congrats on the new camera. Great that you could practise with it at the family gathering. Nice Cyclamen pic for Margo.

Annette – I guess you were dashing about again last evening! I hope you are getting some relaxation today.

Clare – hope you are having good weather either at home or away – Dyfi suggested they will have it wet until Tuesday, when they plan their ringing – maybe you’ll be there for that! Of course, you had the concert last night, so you wouldn’t be setting off till after that, I forgot.

Dibnlib – LOL; but a good suggestion.

Dry here, still windy, but plenty of sunshine. OH is outside weeding, so I’ll go do some dead-heading.

  • Hi everybody. What a relaxing Sunday.

Diane - I see a search code! Lovely.

Clare - Hope you enjoyed your evening of gentle, soothing toe-tapping music. Aaaah...even more lovely.

dibnlib - My 14 years working in electrical retail just came back to bite me. Bubblewrap! And my first reaction was "that bubblewrap's the wrong way round, the bubbles should be on the inside" I can't help it!

At work when I was young we used to have the giant rolls of bubblewrap. I used to demonstrate to new-starters the art of wrapping a washing machine. You put your arm inside the roll, making a big bobbin out of it, and walk round the machine until it is covered, and the bubbles must be on the inside.

One day. a lad on work experience decided not to listen. Asked to wrap up a washing machine for a customer on the shop floor, he set off with his roll of bubblewrap. 20 minutes later the manager led him back to the warehouse, shaking his head in horror. The lad had gone to the shop floor, layed a length of about 50feet of wrap on the floor, then put the washing machine on one end of it. he then proceeded to roll the washing machine across the floor like a rolling pin, wrapping itself up as it went. Bump, bump, bump it went.  Very unhappy customer!
