Well, managed to get up to Langford for sunrise (5am) And the sun did rise and started to light up the reedbed. A group of five little egrets flew over and landed in (i think) what is known as phase 2 of the reserve. They where a bit confusing as through the camera lens they didn't look to have the green feet I normally look for, in fact one looked more red than anything. This could have been down to the sunlight.
Anyway, after 20 minutes the sun went behind grey cloud never to return. Consequently I had to push the ISO of the camera to 1600 (very grainy images). It was at this point I thought to myself that this would be the day when the Marsh Harriers appeared over the viewing point, and guess what I was right! First the male then the female both decided to appear over the reeds in front of me.
I also saw a hobby and managed my first image, although again in poor light and at a distance moving away from me.
It was then that it started to rain so I packed up and was home for 7.45.
No Bitterns seen today by the way.
