Apart from Jenny and the three volunteers, Julie, John and myself spotted securing chicken-wire to the boardwalk we were treated to some nice sightings. The Shelduck and a family of handsome Pochard on silt lagoon 6 were followed by a redhead Smew, Shovelor, Little Egret, Grey Heron and a good flock of Teal on Phase 2. On phase 1 we enjoyed close sightings of Great-crested Grebe and very smart male Goldeneye amongst the usual suspects of Coot, Gadwall, Tufted Duck, Black-headed Gulls, a solitary Greater Black-backed Gull and inevitably a fair smattering of Cormorants. During lunch we had a fly-in of 9 Whooper Swans onto Phase 2 but they didn't stay around and gave John and I stunning views and some nice photos as flew off northwards along the Trent. It was also nice to see a male Yellowhammer under the feeders near the screen.
