Hi, visited the reserve today, super weather, flocks of lapwings and would you believe Gold finches amongst them however i also had my camers with me, its a bridge camera so does not have the the pulling power of a 300 to 400mm lens. Could someone please tell me if a spotting scope would help solve this problem and are they easy enough to use for photography. No birds of prey today, but Little Grebes beginning to nest.
Hi Midnight Blue
Very remiss of us not to reply before now. Glad to hear you're enjoying your visits to Greylake. As regards your enquiry could I suggest you contact our Optics experts at our RSPB shop at Darts Farm (www.rspb.org.uk/.../facilities.aspx) . They are very knowledgeable and could point you in the right direction. There are also optics demonstrations at various places - www.rspb.org.uk/.../index.aspx. Hope there might be one near where you live.
All the best
