A word of warning to anyone visiting Fen Drayton Lakes RSPB reserve in the next few days or so.
The lakes and river are in heavy flood conditions, extreme care and concentration is required if visiting as there are some impassable and very dangerous areas.
A lot of footpaths are either flooded or are right next to dangerous fast flowing floodwater that may be deeper, flowing faster and much colder than you might think.
There are areas you can still visit while in flood at FDL but be careful and if you have dogs please look out for them.
Enjoy your visit, keep safe and take in the beauty that is Fen Drayton Lakes.
Thanks for that Steve, its been a very bad year for flooding.
is there still flooding on the reserve?
The flooding has gone down but there are still some very muddy areas and care is still needed.
Are there any starlings awing?
No not really, there is a group of 1 to 2 thousand now and then and several smaller sporadic groups but they are not sure where to go. It does not look like there will be the numbers of last year.
Thanks for answering.... shame, as they were spectacular last year.
