A large number of Redwing "crowds" were flying onto the reserve today from the South West, I could not tell if they were staying or just flying over.
I have not yet seen any Fieldfare but I look forward to them, especially if we have the numbers similar to last year.
The large flocks of Redwing and Fieldfare are an impressive sight to see. There are good supplies of ripe Hawthorn berries and other kinds of their favourite foods to feed on.
Thanks for the heads-up Steve. Nice to know the redwing & fieldfare are on their way back. I'm way this w/end but will get around FDL as soon as I can.
How are the starlings??
Nothing much yet, there are some sporadic groups but that's all.
Keep an eye on the message board on the FDL website, when something happens it will be on there.
