Fog, Barn's, King's but no Bittern'ess.

24/03/2012

Today's fog was a downer, but not out.

The Barn Owl was on form again, hunting in the fog in the Bullfinch field. The first Kingfisher I have seen for several months was also hunting, all along the Woodpecker Alley ditch. Again I saw the Moore Lake Bittern fly in, the fog gave it a eerie glow, an almost alien appearance. Treecreepers were abundant on the old oak and nearby trees at the South West corner of Drayton Lagoon. I still have not seen any Bearded Reedlings on the Elney North viewpoint, I would have thought today was near perfect conditions for them to show.

The Fox was behind the screens at the viewpoint near the hide again, resting.

It seems this year that there are Cetti's Warblers everywhere I turn, such a powerful call, especially how it carries in the fog.

You may think that the fog is a downer in bird watching, well it is of coarse, but go out and LISTEN instead.

Have fun.
