Hello again, there have been very few sightings in the book today and also yesterday so the bird news is pretty much the same as in the blog from Andrew on Weds (not sure re redstart or the ruff) - found here.

So the blog today is about little things that I saw this aft on a quick walk around the ponds.

I again stopped at the wonderful patch of lavender just before the courtyard. It was buzzing and humming with life - butterflies, bees and hoverflies especially.

Small white butterfly today.

I always mix up my large and small skippers so I'm going to go for small skipper in this photo. I love the 'curly wurly' look!

Other butterflies seen by me today were comma, large white, ringlet, meadow brown and gatekeepers are now on the wing. There were many burnet moths flying around too - a brilliant speck of red darting through the grasses.

I only saw two dragonflies - emperor and brown hawker.

We have a few puss moth caterpillars growing up nicely. A couple of years ago, Andrew gave them the name of 'Gerald.'

Here's a Gerald from today. It looks a bit yellow to me and at first, I thought it was about to shed a skin and change instars... but then it started feeding again. In this photo, it almost looks as if it is on a broomstick....

The moth trap was on a couple of days ago and this is the list that Heather tweeted. It's pretty impressive!

Hopefully a few moth photos arriving in a blog very soon.

That's it, enjoy this Friday evening.
