Hi Folks! Here is a summary of today’s sightings from Old Moor (and one sighting from Adwick)…
Just down the road from Old Moor, at Adwick Washland, the day began very well with a male redstart. This could be found on (or near) the fence adjacent to the hawthorn hedge that borders the field, opposite the gate to the viewpoint.

Also at Adwick today were: two grey partridge, one ruff, fourteen avocet, five little ringed plover, one ringed plover and two oystercatcher.
The ruff listed above deserves a look especially as it still has much of that extraordinary breeding plumage that gives the bird its common name.

One last picture from the day, this time at Old Moor where three black-tailed godwit could be found either on the Wader Scrape or – more likely – on the Field Pool. Here they are in flight, heading back to the scrape.
Until next time.
