Just seen two ospreys over the bay and garden here. Are the officially back?

Good Afternoon Mairhaich
Have had no confirmation from the cameras as yet.
14.57 but I am on day off.
Update for 30th March only Starlings on the nest not further sightings from colleges on the bay the two you saw could have been flying through further north.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow
Paul
So are the ospreys back at Wigtown?
Tiger Signature
As of 4:30 on the 16th April no Osprey on the nest only two ravens although one bird has been seen at distance on the bay.

That really is rather sad. The Wigtown ospreys were a great couple. Sad that it all should come to a shuddering halt like this.
We are still watching for the tell-tale evidence of the birds having nested at another site on the bay and will post if we have news.
There are several strange events that are playing out across D&G and the wider Osprey breeding area. They travel vast distances to and from their winter quarters and face many dangers on the way.
I've just heard the bells ring in Wigtown. Is there hope yet? Or has someone got married?

Oh fantastic. That is one of the nicest traditions at Wigtown.
I was down on the Crook from 4 and did not see any but I was doing dip wells and lapwings but the odd time i looked the nest was empty.
however this morning did get a report of a bird on the muds being bombed by crows that flew north. So keep a look out.
Last year (2011) we were told "At present the project website wigtownbayospreys.co.uk needs to be updated". Some items were added for 2011, but entries seemed to die off before the end of the season.
It looks as if the same problem is occuring this year (2012). The website as it stands contains some old misinformation, e.g. reference to Sulwath Connections - which has been completed and wound up!
Will anyone from RSPB be able to either do a re-vamp for 2012 or arrange for someone else to do one? If not, can someone close down the website, so that it does not detract from this year's interest in the Ospreys and the Crook.
