Our Kestrels are now live on the Arne website! The female has been sitting on the eggs for 32 days so the first should hatch any time. She seems particularly restless today and sometimes you can even hear the chicks calling from the eggs. Who will be the first to see a hatched chick? It would be great to see everyones observations on this forum so we can keep updated with all the excitement! To see the webcam follow: http://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/a/arne/webcam.aspx
Webcam down this morning?
Back up and running........ We're having problems with the line at the moment. The internet keeps dropping off and when it comes back we have to go in and manually reset the streaming software.... Bit of a pain, we are working on it.......
Can someone reassure me that the little one is actually getting fed? Would be awful to lose one at this stage.
Well there was no waiting politely in turn that time - a real scrap for a baby bird I think. Thought one of them might get jostled out of the box.
Oh I am so hanging my head in shame, I've been so preoccupied with the Loch Garten Osprey family that I haven't even looked in for a couple of days (please may I be forgiven). My what a difference in them!!
Dom - I adore your capture posted on 13th June at 1057!! Please please please may I copy it for my Kestrel family file? Please? You even got the egg at the front! (Are they playing football with it :\ ) Here's one a just took (for the family album)
I named them a few weeks ago: Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich !!
Fledging date? Ok, so we have 20th (bird watch) 24th (Dom) 25th (Michael). Well, I think I got that right? I say 26th ;)
Dad just brought something in - three of them fought for it at the back of the nest box - don't know who won.
No, no, no, that's not Dozy at the front - that's Beaky ;)
So, guess which one's Tich ....
Posting lots of pics now to make up for my badness - you can copy any of 'em Dom ;) hint, hint ...
I shall keep nagging uptil you reply (typical female, I know, I know)
Hazel - course you can.
Is the size disparity really that big??
I think I noticed a hole at one end of the egg today.
Thank you Dom!!! :) It really was a very good capture of yours. Thank you again ;) Size disparity - think just the capture here's one 5/10 minutes after:
Think Tich was stooping in the capture before ;) A hole in the egg?! They obviously have been kicking it around too much ...
It must have eaten a large meal in those 5/10 minutes! :-)
