Hello - This is a rather rushed first post but after a long time with nothing happening on the kestrel nest we came in this morning to find our surprise that the first egg has been layed! Very exciting! So I have switched the web cam over for the time being!
We are still keeping an eye on the buzzard nest so if they do decide to use it we will switch over to them!
But for the time being happy viewing of the kestrels
Michael
Ps - As this has happened quickly the web cam caption will still be for the feeder for a few days until I get the web team to change it over!
Hi mims - that sun is a pest for pics - here's some I took earlier today when I wondered if she was maybe laying another egg - seems to be no unbroken incubating at mo...
Then Mr K brought her some food & I thought he was going to take over incubation but he nicked off leaving the eggs uncovered again...
Lovely pics Wendy and clearly 3 eggs there:-)
at appx 13.19 the female has flown, 3 eggs visible
13.24 the male pops in with something for lunch in his beak. Whether to check the eggs, or bring to Mrs - well she's got fed up of waiting if that's the case! Clip to follow.
13.26 Mrs returns with a few lovely chirrups and settles back on the eggs. Clip to follow.
13.24 Here's the male
13.26 Mum's back
A few mins later the male returns briefly and Mrs changes position on the eggs, appx 13.32
14.26 Looked in again to see Mrs on the eggs. Lovely tail feathers, not unlike a pheasant?
She has been sitting like this for the last 20 mins or so. Is there a chance she may be laying? The tail is up, I haven't noticed her sit like this before...
Just checked back and Mrs has turned around again. Will check in soon and hopefully get a view of the eggs and how many there are now.
Happy watching everyone:-)
