Hello - This is a rather rushed first post but after a long time with nothing happening on the kestrel nest we came in this morning to find our surprise that the first egg has been layed! Very exciting! So I have switched the web cam over for the time being!
We are still keeping an eye on the buzzard nest so if they do decide to use it we will switch over to them!
But for the time being happy viewing of the kestrels
Michael
Ps - As this has happened quickly the web cam caption will still be for the feeder for a few days until I get the web team to change it over!
Wot Barn Owl???
Arne still has a Barn Owl but a couple of years ago the webcam was on a pair that was rearing their chicks which was amazing and had me completely hooked, although having 'night light' as when they are most active and feeding their young it was on round the clock so I was not getting enough sleep! Sadly one of the pair disappeared and the remains of one was found not so far away :-( but there is still one resident and roosting at Arne and you can see it asleep via the feed in the VC. I'm sure that if successful in finding another mate that would be another contender for the live webcam! :-)
Hi Pudweena - thanks for that info on the Barn Owl & hope that it has a successful brood but is not put on our Kestrel cam lol !! Here is a screen capture I've just made.....
Gives me an insight into what my one here should be doing!!!
BTW have a good holiday - going anywhere spectacular?
I'm very excited the kestrel cam is back! As much as I love buzzards I love watching the kestrels! I've been watching the Barn Owls on the Dorset Wildlife Trust webcam, but no eggs yet.
Jo T Always on the side of the feathered guy!
Hi JoT - nice to see you on here - how's the knee??
It's more or less ok, thanks, it tries to cause problems but I ignore it! It's lovely to see the kestrels again! How's things with your 'live' feed?

If you want Kestrel overload, above is a link to my thread in Community Home!!
Mrs Arne K must have been laying another egg when I caught her 'lying down on the job' earlier in the day...
Looks bigger than the first one?
Not spectacular by way of exotic Wendy but South Hams area of Devon which has pretty spectacular scenery and lots of wildlife/birds too hopefully :-)
Afraid I just can't spend so much time on the computer these days but it's lovely to catch up and see all the captures & videos of what's going on. Good luck with your own Kestrels!
Hi JoT, nice to hear from you again - glad the knee is holding up :-)
Good morning everyone:-)
Female incubating at present. Won't take a pic as very reflective, maybe will improve later as the light changes.
