When I saw the first picture on arne's photos I was kind of jealous not to have seen any :) Then I thought that's the thing with photography, you can be at the right place and the right time, be lucky, press the trigger in the perfect timing, but it seemed to be always the others! grrrrrr! :)
Finally with a bit of perseverance and patience the myth becomes reality. The tiniest bird of the country compensate largely with its colourful plumage. After a couple of days of "preparation" this gorgeous monday offered me the possibility to go back and get some decent photographs. The good thing is, the bird is quite tame and can be approched up to three meters, but it rarely stays more than 2 secondes in the same place, so I found it very hard to capture on camera.
So a series of 6 pictures was posted in Arne's photo competition section if you want to visit. Hope it will please our birders friends. there is a tag with firecrest so more easy to research
Olivier
Gorgeous set of photos Olivier, so glad you went back:-)
Thank you Madam :) So am I. Just wanted to give the direct link here in case people have trouble to move through this forum (yes it happens! :D) so click here: www.rspb.org.uk/.../default.aspx or copy paste
Yes a really good set of photos OlivierM,Pete and Dom will want copies so you had better protect them.
Thanks Sooty, I haven't been very thoughtful by signing them because I don't think the competition will appreciate, but I always do that before posting on the web, kind of a habit..
great series of photogrpahs olivier..glad you got some good ones..I will soon perhaps..:-)
Capturing the Light with an original perspective displayed in every Photograph..perhaps
Firecrest - 2-3 pairs around RSPB Arne car park, taken from Dorset Birds sightings..
That is not a false information, just we know there is more than that..
Lets hope they stay a bit longer or even breed Olivier..
It would be a shame not to make the most of this gorgeous weather! Today again I tried the Dartford Warbler, and couldn't see or even hear one! So I decided to go back to the car park to "firecrest" a little bit. At the end of the day the light is entering through the side of the gate and illuminate the holly trees where I "hunt" the little colourful chap.
Once again, he was at the meeting and decided to make himself handsome for the record :-) As I said he displayed but I was not quick enough to capture it.
And a couple spotted a black cap on the tree just behind the office on the car park, in fact a couple of them. I captured the female but no light on this side of the tree tonight. Good to know, it will be my next "target" :-)
