I am down in Poole for a few days in the second week of September. I have unfortunately timed it so I miss both the Wednesday walk and the Saturday event at Arne.
Will probably take up one day on Brownsea but a quick question please re Arne. Is the information booth still open in September or can someone give me an idea as to which walk is best to take at this time of year.

Hi Bob. Yes - the info booth will still be open unless the RSPB lads are planning on migrating south. Take the Coombe Heath trail to watch the waders in the Middlebere Channel and possibly glimpse an osprey returning from a fishing trip if you're lucky. Plenty to be seen on the Shipstal Point trail and in Arne Bay also - especially if you like sika deer!
The information hut is open every day of the year except christmas day and boxing day. Pop in and say hi and we'll let you know whats where...
Hi Bob,depends how far you want to walk but one idea is to do a circular walk of Coombe Heath in morning, possible Marsh Harrier over reeds looking towards Corfe Castle and Osprey sits in a dead tree that area somtimes but the guys in centre are brilliant and will tell you everything+information board of what has been seen. Then do the Shipstal trail after lunch. You will have a brilliant day.Would really like to come with you but Mull calls. We will surely meet one day.
Sooty, Thank you. I like Arne but I suspect at this time of the year Mull might even call me.
Dom / Robert. Thank you. I will pop in. I will be the one wondering whether I should have gone to Mull.
