Our Let Nature Sing sound takeover is happening on October 17th. Across Scotland and the UK castles, palaces, shopping centres, tourist attractions, office buildings and train stations will be filled with birdsong in a celebration of our nature and a reminder to save it. RSPB Scotland’s Allie McGregor tells us about just a few of the places in Scotland where you can hear the birdsong takeover (For a full list check out the attached document!).
5 places to hear the birdsong takeover
In The Enchanted Forest…
Join us exploring The Enchanted Forest connecting with nature using bat detectors and light moth traps. At the Faskally woods Enchanted Forest you can immerse yourself in a unique light and sound experience which on the 17th of October will include beautiful birdsong.
In the stadium seats…
The last time I was at Murrayfield was to see the truly iconic Spice Girls – clearly you have to be a pretty big superstar to get a gig there. It should be no surprise then that soon the seats will be brought to life with the music of robins, swifts, song thrushes and more of our country’s remarkable birds. Hampden Stadium will also be joining in replacing the roar of fans for the gentle melody of birdsong for the day.
In a historic castle…
While we act to save our nature’s future why not delve into the past? My very favourite historic venue in Scotland is Linlithgow Palace so I am delighted that they, amongst many other special Scottish places, are taking part in Let Nature Sing day.
If, like me, exploring our country’s incredible history is a favourite pastime of yours, you could also head to any of the following castles: Edinburgh, Brodie, Stirling, Blair, Brodick, Glamis, Campbell, Craigmillar, Doune, St Andrews, Caerlaverock and Dirleton. You’re never too far from a castle in Scotland!
In a pop-up autumn garden…
Our birdsong will be ringing throughout the autumn garden pop-up at Edinburgh Cocktail Week Festival Village. Sit back and relax or use beautiful birdsong as a backdrop to explore their charming new forest expansion. On the day there will even be a very special Let Nature Sing cocktail from Grey Goose you may want to sample – Can’t wait to try it myself!
Maybe you’ll find inspiration for the next big cocktail – A Long Island iced teal? A Dark ‘n’ Storm Petrel?
On an outdoor adventure…
Celebrate birdsong surrounded by Scotland’s beautiful wildlife and nature. From Blair Drummond Safari Park to the Scottish Seabird Centre there will be all sorts of opportunities to connect with nature while you enjoy birdsong.
Scotland’s nature is incredible. What better way to inspire action to save it than by immersing yourself in it?
