What is your name and how long have you been volunteering for RSPB Cymru?

My name is Hal and I’ve been volunteering fro RSPB Cymru for 6 months.

What made you want to volunteer with RSPB Cymru?

Because I really liked the sound of the Giving Nature a Home in Cardiff Project. I think it is a really good cause engaging children particularly in nature and is beneficial for the environment and the children who get involved.

What is your role title and what does this entail?

My volunteer role is called Nature Interpreter, and i help out with events around Cardiff, providing free nature themed activities aimed at children. It involves a lot of creative stuff like building bug hotels and bird feeders with kids.

How many hours a week or month do you volunteer?

It varies but around 5 – 10 hours

Why do you think volunteering is important and would you recommend volunteering to your friends?

If you want a career in anything and you volunteer in that sector it’s a great way to show your enthusiasm. It also provides a work force for charities so they can deliver projects which they might not be able to afford if they had to pay everyone involved.  I’d definitely recommend volunteering, it’s a great way to meet people and its always different and never boring.
