The 22nd May saw the launch of the State of Nature report.
TV and Wildlife presenter, Iolo Williams, opened our launch in Cardiff with an inspirational, heartfelt speech. Since we uploaded it on the YouTube channel, he’s had well over 8,000 views, blowing everybody’s minds with such powerful and passionate words.(Watch it again here.)
We anticipated that the launch evening would be a very special occasion, and it certainly was. Techniquest was buzzing with representatives from the 25-partner organisations, Assembly Members, key individuals and public body members. We wanted to document the whole event so we could share the evening with you.
Three fantastic young volunteers – Josh, Mac and Rhys – offered their professional services and filmed the whole evening for us. They were great and we would like to thank them for their hard work, and I hope they’ll come back to do more filming with us in the future!
And here it is: Wales' State of Nature film. Please share with your family, friends and peers and help us spread the word that nature need our help. In the words of Iolo Williams, "We only have one planet."
RSPB has over 17,200 volunteers - that's about eight volunteers for every member of staff!
None of the State of Nature report work would have been possible without the army of volunteer wildlife enthusiasts who spend their spare time surveying species and recording their findings.
We are truly grateful to all of them. If you would like to see what volunteering opportunities are available, click here
Thanks to Iolo for the 'wake-up' call, we need successful protection programmes for our declining species.
