The highlight of last week for the Community Team was, without a doubt, James’s 11 memberships made at ASDA in Coryton! A big RSPB Cymru “THANK YOU” goes out to the store for providing us with a date to come in and meet with their shoppers.

Another success was an event day RSPB Cymru staff and volunteers was involved with in Margam Country Park this week. I think we saw 100 kids altogether and helped them make dragonflies from pipe cleaners and acetate paper (see pictures of them below).

We also handed out bird spotter sheets that visitors worked their way through when exploring the park. These sheets helped visitors identify the species they encountered during their visit, and hopefully sparked an interest in nature that families will continue to explore together at home.

Next week we will be visiting Royal Glamorgan and Heath Hospitals in South Wales, as well as IKEA in Cardiff Bay, Waitrose Monmouth and ASDA Bridgend. We’ve had a really good run recently at hospitals and supermarkets. Wouldn’t it just be something if we could equal our half term results next week?!

If you do see us out and about please do come and say “hello”. We’re a friendly bunch and a nice chat will always make our day.
