It’s been a tough couple of months for the Wales Community Team. With only two staff covering various venues in South Wales, we’ve really had our work cut out for us. But we’ve proved we’re tougher than we look! James and Helen have bravely battled against hurricane-strength winds, and torrential rain, and come out the other side with lots of new RSPB memberships.
Next week we’re hoping for better weather, and will be attending various events for half term. On Wednesday 26 February RSPB staff will be at Margam Country Park for a family fun day of craft activities, and our custom-made wildlife bingo spotter sheets. Take these with you as you explore the grounds and see how many you can tick off.
We will also be manning a stall at the St David’s Day market in Cardiff town centre. If you are out shopping, why not come and say ‘hello’ and ask us about giving nature a home. Our displays will give you ideas that you can try yourself to encourage all types of wildlife into your garden.
For half term in Mid Wales we will have a stand on the promenade at Aberystwyth, so keep a look out for our bright green tent! We’re here to show you the spectacular displays being put on by the starlings roosting underneath the Pier. If you have never seen a starling murmuration before have a look at the below pic taken by the RSPB's Hannah Doyle, it’s a sight you will not want to miss.
