Wellies at the ready, winter is on its way. It’s time to splash about in muddy puddles, run through crunchy leaves and embrace your wild side this November.

As our hedgehogs and squirrels turn in for the winter, the left over fallen fruit and nuts are now a feast for our birds. In Cardiff’s parks you’ll be sure to spot some fungi of all colours shapes and sizes, a blackbird hopping over the grass hunting for a fat juicy worm or a song thrush frantically exploring the hedges looking for that last shiny blackberry. To make the most of the winter months, here are some free #WildCardiff events for the whole family to enjoy this November…

Birds in the Bay – Saturday 12 November, 2 – 4.30pm
Starlings, waders and a wetland adventure waiting to be had. Discover the wildlife of Cardiff Bay Wetland Reserve and experience the brilliant dabbling and diving birds up-close with our binoculars and telescopes. You can enjoy Cardiff’s spectacular starling murmurations, as the starlings gather in their thousands over the Bay before diving into the reed beds to roost.
