A year 4 class from Ysgol Pen y Garth in Penarth have been working on wildlife as a topic and decided to produce a school assembly based around the idea of ‘Giving Nature a Home’. The assembly included a re-creation of Iolo Williams famous ‘State of Nature’ speech with eight year old Kit Davies playing the part of a mini Iolo. In a slight re-interpretation of the speech, the class broke out in a ‘Giving Nature a Home’ rap! For the benefit of all those Welsh language hip-hop fans out there the rap included killer lines like this...

Rhowch gartref i natur ar ein planed ni,
Rhowch gartref i ni yng Nghymru,
Bysedd y cwn, gwenyn mel, pili pala a draenog tew!

Pwy a wyr os bydd pob un ar ol,
Os ydym yn anghofio a bod yn ffol!

Following on from their inspirational performance, the children will literally be giving nature a home by building bird boxes and a bug hotel for their school grounds.

We reckon that is some outstanding work from Ysgol Pen y Garth!
