Great to hear that RSPB Conwy has become the first RSPB reserve in Wales to be judged ‘outstanding’ in every area of its outdoor teaching.

The education provision at the reserve was given the prestigious award by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, the recognised national voice for outdoor learning.

The award is a badge presented to venues that offer educational activities for school groups and offers a safe, enjoyable and educational experience for children that will also help them meet the learning objectives of the school curriculum.

The badge is intended to act as a quality assurance for teachers, ensuring they don’t need to go through the rigmarole of getting the venues risk assessed, check the site out with other users and worrying about whether they are getting value for money.

Its a testament to the hard work of the Team at Conwy that they have been given this award. Its so important that teaching children about nature is engaging fun and inspiring. I can remember how much fun it was as a kid getting your hands dirty  and getting up close to nature as a kid.  the information always sticks in your mind a lot more.   Conwy totally get this. If you’ve been there you will know what a great place for Kids RSPB Conwy is. Da iawn Conwy! Keep up the good work!

If you’re a teacher or lead a youth group in the Conwy area and want to bring children to the reserve next spring, why not give Charlie Sretton a call to find out more on 01492 584 091 or email Charlotte.stretton@rspb.org.uk
