100 people, 100 dances, 100 urban green spaces – all celebrating Cardiff’s fantastic wildlife.

Following the success of TAPE and In the Eyes of the Animal, we’re inviting you to dance in your favourite green patch in the city to celebrate all that’s wild and wonderful about our urban green spaces.

In collaboration with American artist Ely Kim, Boombox Caerdydd will see 100 people being filmed dancing to their favourite music in their favourite green space in the city – celebrating and expressing their connection to nature and the places they enjoy it most. The resulting short film will be showcased in spring 2017 to honour the city’s communities and wild spaces.

Arranged in partnership with arts organisation, Migrations, Boombox Caerdydd is the perfect opportunity for you to put the spotlight on the wild spaces that mean something to you – possibly celebrating places we haven’t even discovered yet. And the beauty is, you don’t need to be a professional dancer to get involved, anyone and everyone, young or old, can take part – it’s all about having fun and experiencing the joys of dancing.

From the wildflower meadows and orchards of Cardiff’s Forest Farm to the tranquil lakes of Roath Park, the nature haven in your back garden or the green space outside your office window – it’s entirely up to you where you dance. All you need to do is choose your favourite track to dance to and your favourite natural space and we’ll do the rest.

Cardiff is known for many things, from our castles and art venues to our shopping centres and sporting stadiums. However we’re also blessed with some beautiful outdoor spaces, be that our parks or back gardens. Since 2014 our Giving Nature a Home in Cardiff project has connected over 20,000 people with nature across the city and Boombox Caerdydd will really enhance the sense of wonder that our wildlife evokes, engaging families, art and nature lovers with the city’s special green spaces.

If you fancy putting on your dancing shoes and being a part of Boombox Caerdydd we would love to hear from you. Please visit http://migrations.uk/Boombox+Cardiff to sign up for free and to watch a short preview.
