Guest blog by Stacey Baldwin, Community and Volunteer Officer for RSPB Cymru's Giving Nature a Home in Cardiff

Are you and your family itching to help nature this summer holiday? Are you looking for a fun family activity in one of Cardiff’s greatest wildlife hotspots? Then Giving Nature a Home in Cardiff has the perfect task for you and your family.

The City of Cardiff Council’s Ranger team are heading out on Saturday 30 July to help track down all of the butterflies at their headquarters at Forest Farm. We want the help of mums, dads, children and grandparents: to pack up a picnic, put on your sun cream and head out into the sunshine to find some butterflies.

Forest Farm: Martyn Poynor

We’re teaming up with the Big Butterfly Count to help record the precious butterflies of Cardiff. Whether they’re fluttering around in the hedges, the trees or the grass, we think every single one of these little minibeasts is important. When we know what butterflies make their home here in Cardiff, then we can provide the perfect homes for them to live in.

That’s why we want your help to track down every last butterfly at Forest Farm. We know that children are experts at tracking down minibeasts, and we know that mums and dads are champions of spotting teeny tiny wrigglers.

So if you think your family is the perfect team to crack the butterfly puzzle, come on down to Forest Farm and join us - we want your help to find Forest Farm’s beautiful butterflies.
