Wow, they seem to be getting on! I only have 2 finches visit my garden and they are Goldfinches, took this photo last weekend, was sooo excited.
That truly is gorgeous, your soooo lucky.
Unlike a lot of the other birds, they stayed on the feeder for ages. I Would love to get some of the other finches though. Still I have a good variety so I consider myself very lucky to have what I have.
I have these on a daily bases they can not resist the sunflower hearts , they are about 20 they are beautiful and i also have 1 pair of bull finches will have to get some pics done
blue tit
yeah i will its costing me a fortune have found it cheaper in bulk lol . now we also have a pair of blue tits eyeing up my nest box which i was lucky enough to have apair of great tits nest there last summer 6 babies but only 1 didnt make it i was sad because the poor thing had feathers on it was beautiful do you think it was to big to get out of the hole .
its a shame as the tit family are my fav birds .
I bought my son an expensive nyger feeder recently and it sat there for weeks. We had seen Goldfinches in the field nearby but they didn't seem to realise there was lovely food in the garden waiting for them. So we pulled up a dead teasel from the field and tied it near the feeder quite high so they would spot it when flying over and come down. The very next morning they came down to the teasel and hopped straight on the feeder. We now have 3 goldfinches visiting all the time (and a very happy 4 year old)!
