Hi Doggie, is it OK to give cheese to birds? I have been told by some not to but Winterwatch were asking us to give cheese.I am confused!!

Where's the .pdf Big Garden Watch recording sheet that you normally have? The new online counter is of little use to most people. Surely everyone is not expected to use that.

Thanks for that - don't know why it's not available on the website as before for people who want to use it. The online counter thing and registration is a mess and is going to put a lot of people off.

The old one is far better. I'll use that.

No - It says "your number should combine males and females".

So one number for all blackbirds I think. But a bit confusing.

Must say I'm not at all impressed by the new set-up this year.

I have just printed the old style recording sheet as the new one is not good for various reasons. I'm a bit disappointed as I have encouraged the 180 children I spoke to last week about taking part and had shown them the old style sheet.

They won't know to look for the 2012 sheet, which is much more attractive to children and easier to use.
