With devolved elections in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales happening on 5 May, we’ve enlisted our furry friend Bob to help push nature higher up the political agenda!

The campaign, which is largely run on social media, has been encouraging RSPB members and the general public to demonstrate their support for nature by ‘voting’ for Bob and asking their election candidates to pledge their support too.

Since February, he’s been on the campaign trail in Northern Ireland to help convince prospective candidates in the Assembly election that our natural environment is worth protecting.

Our very own wildlife ambassador has been travelling across Northern Ireland to highlight some of our most stunning wild places and native species. So far he’s been spotted on Rathlin Island, Lough Neagh, Lower Lough Erne and lots of places in between!

It couldn’t be easier - just type your postcode into Bob’s website www.voteforbob.co.uk and a list of candidates standing in your area will appear, as well as a pre-prepared message to send to them.

You can also join the ‘Bob squad’ by following him on social media – search Vote for Bob on Facebook and @bobfornature on Twitter – and use #VoteforBob and #BobinNI.

The Bob campaign is a light-hearted one, but with a serious message – nature is in trouble and decision-makers need to take notice. After the elections, we’ll be following up with the candidates who have been elected to draw their attention to specific nature friendly policies.

In the meantime, if you meet Bob on his travels, don’t forget to say hello!
