As Visit Wales celebrates the Year of Adventure, we’re inviting you to unleash your wild side and enjoy the great outdoors.

Adventure conjures up many thoughts; it’s exciting, daring and sometimes challenging. To some, it could mean trying an extreme sport or possibly going on a culinary journey. However this year, as Wales celebrates “all things epic” during its Year of Adventure, we would like to dare you to go on an adventure of your own at your nearest nature reserve.

From breathtaking walks to incredible wildlife, our nature reserves have it all and provide the perfect setting for your very own wild adventure. So this year, escape the stresses of everyday life and venture into the wonderful unknown – perhaps on the striking coastal cliffs of RSPB South Stack or RSPB Ramsey Island; or by exploring the fascinating natural history at RSPB Conwy; the beautiful bluebell woods of RSPB Ynys-hir; by going on an enjoyable bike ride around RSPB Lake Vyrnwy or by visiting the tranquil marches of RSPB Newport Wetlands.

You don’t need to be an adrenaline junky to enjoy a true-Welsh adventure – it comes in all shapes and sizes. By visiting our nature reserves, families can experience new and unpredictable adventures by discovering the weird and wonderful wildlife around them. Whether they enjoy the stunning scenery, spot some beautiful birds, hunt for some minibeasts, picnic in the sun, or get mucky in the mud - there’s something for everyone.

The best adventures are journeys of discovery which stick with you and make a lasting impression. When you’re in and amongst nature it not only makes you feel energised but it ignites the imagination of both children and adults alike, creating a lifetime of adventure.

We’re hosting a range of adventurous events across our reserves, providing hours of fun for the whole family. For more information visit www.rspb.org.uk/events.
