It's a Sparrowhawk - a female by the size and colouration.

Ditto on sparrowhawk.
I can't say what it was but it did look to large for a Sparrowhawk so it threw me a bit , many thanks for reply .
The female Sparrowhawk can be up to 25% bigger than the male. See a comparison below.
