Hello all, I visited Leighton Moss with a friend the other day & a discussion arose about the Bearded Tits & when you would be more likely to see them. It was my understanding that they breed on the reserve but that you are most likely to see them when they come to the grit trays around October, when they begin to eat seeds instead of insects; is that correct? What do they eat in the following winter months, or do they leave the reserve. Any info appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hello, AnnaB, its not a daft question and you are correct during the winter months they eat seed because most of the insects are not about, and you have just made me want to go back again I visit as much as I can but with being an hour and half away by car sadly a day trip is not long enough but I do try to stay over a few days, hope you had a nice day while you were there.

Thank you Jim, great photo. We had a fantastic day thank you, with lots of otter action and a Bittern flight in front of the Causeway hide. Hope you get chance to go back soon.
Here's Mum taking an eel to the babies who were hiding in the reeds nearby.
