Hello Folks! Fungi come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours. Whilst some are edible, others are poisonous and best avoided. They can be found almost everywhere and are often easily overlooked. Many can be seen in woodland and meadow, especially at this time of year. Each Monday for 12 weeks I will be posting a little teaser for you. Without looking in books or on the internet (i.e - no cheating), see if you can identify the UK fungus. On Wednesday, so as long as no-one has guessed it, I will post one clue. On Friday I will post the answer along with some additional information for your interest.MYSTERY FUNGI QUIZ #8Clue: Keep a lid on it, else you will pine for this spice.P.S: apologies for delay, have been on leave in Finland and then managed to get a doozy of a head cold.
Without cheating, it must have Cap and a type of fir tree maybe , somewhere in the answer ? lol

Sadly no, despite our efforts. Plenty of snow though.
Would love to see the Northern Lights. Was Finland very beautiful Mrs T?
.... conifer, larch, cedar something? I really am bad at these :(

It was a winter wonderland and very pretty. Plenty of snow capped fir trees.
Any pics?
(I'm still none the wiser for the quiz...!)
Only a few, and they were taken on my little point and click, so i cannot comment on the quality, i'll try and post some tonight, technology willing :)
Don't worry I'll post a clue tomorrow!
Is that another clue Mrs T " plenty of snow capped fir trees" ??? LOL
I think Hazy might be on the right track in suggesting it has "cap" in the name but I think there's a lot of them. I guess we might also be looking for one with the name of a spice as well. Any ideas Marjus, because without looking some up I've no idea. Even when I cheat I get it wrong.
