Hello Folks!Be they big or small, insects are undoubtedly highly fascinating creatures. Chances are wherever you are, whatever you're doing, an insect is not a million miles away and you might not even know it! So what better reason than to have a quiz to see how much you know about them.
Each Monday for 12 weeks, I will be posting a little teaser for you. Without looking in books or on the internet (i.e - no cheating), see if you can identify the insect. On Wednesday, so as long as no-one has guessed it, I will post one clue. On Friday I will post the answer along with some additional information for your interest.MYSTERY INSECT QUIZ#10
This weeks clue is courtesy of Monty Python:
A one... two-- A one... two... three... four...Half a bee, philosophically,Must, ipso facto, half not be.But half the bee has got to beVis a vis, its entity. D'you see?
Blimy I'm dancing

a good laugh is better than a tonic

Good heavens, someone's got inventive!!
Got no idea really, but will tentatively suggest a Bee Fly....
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
You're along the right lines there Rach!
the first line of the first clue reminds me of the waltz steps
and vis a vis means face to face
So have we got a dancing insect or am I talking rubbish
I don't know about dancing, but this one might quite like 60's music!
I get the reference and was wondering about Bee fly as Rach has suggested but am now trying to think of other part Bees or mimics as I don't think it is a whole Bee like a Bumble Bee...this is getting surreal...
Caroline in Jersey
The only other mimic I can think of, without looking it up, is a Hoverfly, but I can't think of a 60s group that would tie in with the rest of the clue.
Oh lord, in my defence I was a small child in th 60's but there was a band called B Bumble and the Stingers....on that note I think I will go hide in a corner. Or go for my alternative excuse, I worked in the music industry for 20 years.
