Hello Folks!Be they big or small, insects are undoubtedly highly fascinating creatures. Chances are wherever you are, whatever you're doing, an insect is not a million miles away and you might not even know it! So what better reason than to have a quiz to see how much you know about them.
Each Monday for 12 weeks, I will be posting a little teaser for you. Without looking in books or on the internet (i.e - no cheating), see if you can identify the insect. On Wednesday, so as long as no-one has guessed it, I will post one clue. On Friday I will post the answer along with some additional information for your interest.MYSTERY INSECT QUIZ#9An overlooked nautical aspect.

Well, I can't think of anything better! I'm just useless with cryptic clues!
Ooh I like that Rach, I'll go with Water Boatman, for the moment anyway.
Caroline in Jersey
Cin J
like that one Rach, well thought out
I,ll go for water measurer
Ray
a good laugh is better than a tonic
Clue: perfectly designed for moving across the surface of water.
Ah well! That's the dingy skipper out! We've had pond skater before in a quiz, and the water boatman is 'under' water, so I reckon Ray's got this one right with the water measurer!
Sticking with water measurer
edit The boatman sounds good for the second clue, but Mrs T likes the rarer and I do believe there is a lesser boatman
To me it could depend on how criptic the 2nd clue is. If its not too criptic then designed to go on water could be a pond skater but if its slightly criptic then it could refer to a boat - and a water boatman. The overlooked bit of the first clue could then be the lesser water boatman.
No idea really!
