Hello Folks,Here's something for all you fans of our feathered friends. Each friday for 12 weeks, I will be posting a little teaser for you. Without looking in books or on the internet (i.e - no cheating), see if you can identify this bird. The following Monday, so as long as no-one has guessed it, I will post one clue. The day after I will post the answer along with some additional information for your interest. Here goes ....MYSTERY BIRD #7Don't let my appearance on a South Pacific bank note fuel your opinion of me.
Congratulations to all of you who guessed Fiji petrel (Pseudobulweria macgillivrayi). Fiji petrels are also known as MacGilliray's petrel, named after the naturalist John MacGillivray who happened upon the species on a voyage to Gau island in 1855.
Due to predation by cats, only a tiny remaining population of Fiji petrels remain on the Fijian islands of Gau and Taveuni. Its decline and rarity was been promoted to locals on a Fijian bank note. Fiji petrels breed in suitable forests on Gau.
Reckon this weeks mystery bird quiz was a bit too easy for you clever lot, so I will have to make this friday's a little trickier!!!!

Was guessed quite quickly this time, I don't think you've got anything to worry about Ray, I'll go gentle!

There's an obscure website for birds on bank notes? Goodness me, whatever next! I need to track these sites down first before I post my next quiz!
I only guessed petrel because of the link with fuel, would never have gotten which one though.
Viv.
my first thought was oil as a fuel hence oilbird was my first choice.
