Hello Folks,Here's something for all you fans of our feathered friends. Each friday for 12 weeks, I will be posting a little teaser for you. Without looking in books or on the internet (i.e - no cheating), see if you can identify this bird. The following Monday, so as long as no-one has guessed it, I will post one clue. The day after I will post the answer along with some additional information for your interest. Here goes ....MYSTERY BIRD #2I boom and I lek where the clouds are long and white.
Capercaillie ??
Feed The Birds....not the cats!!!!
I know....my spelling's crap !!
Some kind of bird of paradise?
Millie & Fly the Border Collies
Lek makes me think of Ruff or Black Grouse, booming usually means Bittern but I reckon I might go for Robbos Caper if it's in the U.K.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
But where to the long white clouds come in? Clouds are grey up here not white lol

If this is a reference to New Zealand then I'm struggling. I only know two NZ birds, the Kiwi and the Kakapo. The Kiwi is a very secretive bird so I can't imagine it's that. The Kakapo is a type of parrot which I remember from that TV programme "Last Chance to See" with David Carwardine with the bird sitting on his head. Can't remember whether it booms or leks but doesn't seem very likely.

It was thinking it could be a reference to paradise, the old drawings of birds of paradise depicted them in white clouds because it was tought they had no legs, hence they lived in paradise lol
I thought of New Zealand, Kat, because it's often referred to as the Land of the Long White Cloud.
Hmm, I don't know anything about New Zealand birds...it's not another trick and something to do with the rugby world cup instead is it? Which rugby team booms? lol
The Kiwis (the NZ team) do the Haka -a Maori war dance - before the start of a match.
Right, I'm going for the New Zealand Rugby Team, though I don't think I'd want to suggest they are birds to their faces lol
