Hello Folks,Here's something for all you fans of our feathered friends. Each friday for 12 weeks, I will be posting a little teaser for you. Without looking in books or on the internet (i.e - no cheating), see if you can identify this bird. The following tuesday, so as long as no-one has guessed it, I will post one clue. The day after I will post the answer along with some additional information for your interest. Here goes ....MYSTERY BIRD #1My nasal call may make you think of Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney's famous song.Claire

Thank you BL and TJ, I am slightly stunned - TJ 99.9% of the credit is yours, you set me on the right track, the last .1% was a wild guess and no cheating (for once!). I am sure I heard something on 'Saving Species' that one had possibly been sighted this year or I may have read it somewhere. I believe there is also a not insubstantial reward for positive proof of it's existence

Nobody has been able to prove that it still exists despite extensive efforts to find it. [/quote] MrsT you are a trickster with this quiz! LOL I was thinking Ivory-billed woodpecker but as it is officially considered extinct figured it couldn't be! Doh! Tricky tricky tricky, can't wait for the next one! Millie & Fly the Border Collies

Oh wait! I'll miss the next quiz because I'm on holiday next week :-(
If the next one makes oblique references to Mauritius, related to pigeons and flightless, no problems. LOL
