With the stunning weather we're having at the moment (keep your bird baths topped up!), many of us will be planning to spend at least some of the Easter weekend out and about. With the array of fantastic landscapes the UK has on offer, we all have to choose where to spend our time this spring.
Shameless plug time, the RSPB reserves offer a variety of opportunities to see a wide range of wildlife and our Date with Nature events give added insights into the wildlife around us, even in the most built up environments.
Now to the poll part, you will find below a short list of broad habitat descriptuions, please select where you feel is the best outdoor place to spend your spring nature watching. If i have missed out a particular habitat that you feel needs a mention please tell us what and why!
We are really interested to hear about your favourite local sites, reserves and easter break getaway locations and why they are the places to be this spring.

We shall be at home over Easter, but will probably do some exploring of the Angus Glens. Last week I walked up the wild side of Glen Esk with 13yr old grandson and identified 19 species of bird, although I think he was more interested in the mink traps!

Hi-
Easter falls at a great time this year- slap bang in the middle of spring migration so it has to be a migrant zone. Looking at the weather coastal lagoons are as good as any place atm.

Voting on this poll ended yesterday and the results show that the coast has been the place to be so far this spring. With the sun shining across much of the UK it's easy to see why!
Wetlands rolled into second place, the attraction of displaying marsh harriers, hobbies hawking for insects and reed and sedge warblers in song certainly grabbed me, I managed to spend a day at Lakenheath!
In a respectable third place came woodlands. Filled with bird song at this time of year, woodlands are also great places to look for wildflowers, insects and small mammals, listen carefully for shrews squeaking as they charge about in the leaf litter!
One surprise I noticed about the poll, no votes for farmland! If you have any local footpaths that go through farmland, now is a great time to explore them, if you are lucky you may have a farm that provides habitat suitable for songsters like skylarks and linnets. They should be at their loudest on bright spring days so well worth checking out.
Personally I think heathlands come into their own in late summer when all the reptiles are still active and the heather is coming into flower which attracts in lots of invertebrates. However a heathland near you could soon be home to nightjars, tree pipits and Dartford warblers.
Thanks for voting and make the most of the sunshine this spring!
Working until Saturday on this second bank holiday weekend ...
BUT
Sunday me and the betrothed are planning on getting up and getting down to Newport Wetlands for the sunrise and dawn chorus. I am keeping my fingers crossed, as the weather forecast is a bit changeable for Sunday.

Doh! I forgot about that....I have farmland just up the road from me.
I'll go and take a walk around there tomorrow. As there doesn't seem to be much else going on tomorrow!
