IMHO this is an Early Bumblebee (Bombus pratorum). Can't see the plant too well but it could be Green Alkanet (Pentaglottis sempervirens).

Hi Good egg. The Bee has a "faint reddish" rear, making it a difficult or "awkward little bee" ;-) to identify according to my reference books; the Male has a Yellow Collar, the female is plain black with a red rear.; unless it's a very, very rare Red-shanked Carder Bee, which is doubtful. There are others which may be similar, but as there's something like 16,000 species in the UK...
Yes, at first I thought the plant was Green Alkanet, but again, the illustrations in my books are not helping!
I agree with aiki, the photo looks like B.pratorum to me as well.
